Swim Team Readiness Evaluation
Livorna Pool
Start: 3:30 PM
End: 4:00 PM (estimated)

All *new* swimmers ages 8 & under will be required to attend a readiness evaluation prior to starting practice.

Is my child ready for swim team?
To be eligible to participate on the swim team, children need to be able to perform certain swimming skills. We realize that not all children will be ready to compete in races at the time of the evaluation; however, for safety reasons, prior to the start of practice all swimmers must be able to:

  • Stay at the side of the pool with one hand on the wall and listen to and follow directions
  • Swim the length of Livorna Pool (25 meters) without assistance of any kind (lane lines, floaties, parent/coach, etc.) - this does not have to be any formal stroke, they just have to be able to move effectively through the water for 25 meters

The coach reserves the right to make a final decision as to whether a child is ready for swim team. If your child cannot complete the above tasks, we encourage you to enroll him/her in our Junior Dolphins Learn-to-Swim Summer Program.

Swim-A-Thon
Livorna Pool

The Livorna Swim-a-Thon is on October 30th during age group practice! All Livorna swimmers are invited to participate (not just Fall Clinic swimmers!).

  • 8 & Under: 3:30-4:15
  • 9-12: 4:15-5:15
  • 13 & ups: 5:15-6:15

How do I fundraise for our team via our Swim-a-Thon?

  • Everyone on the team received an email from 99 Pledges for each swimmer's individualized fundraising page. You received one email per swimmer in your family.
  • Swimmers can personalize their Swim-a-Thon page on 99 pledges and send it out to family and friends.
  • This fundraiser is a great way to include grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.. in our fundraising efforts for new blocks. Family and friends can make a per-lap-pledge, or a flat fee. Coach Matt anticipates swimmers will complete about 30 laps during the Swim-a-Thon.
  • 99 Pledges is a free platform, so all of the donations will go directly to Livorna!
  • You do NOT need to swim in the event to raise money! (Donors can donate a flat donation through the website too.)

In our last big push towards our fundraising goal, we have two great incentives for our swimmers and their families:

  1. If 75% percent of our 2024 summer swimmers register for the Swim-a-Thon on 99Pledges (check your email – a flat donation amount of just $1 will count you as registered!) our swimmers will earn an Otter Pop Party!
  2. THE BIG INCENTIVE: For every $20 that a swimmer raises, their name will be entered into a raffle to WIN PRIORITY JOBS SIGNUPin Summer 2025! We will have a total of three raffle winners! With Priority Jobs Signup, you get to pick your jobs before everyone else, and thus essentially have the pick of whatever jobs you like!

If a swimmer is not seated in their chair immediately prior to being released to the blocks, they will be scratched from the event. This is the same procedure for trials, finals, and relays.
