Come and celebrate an excellent year!

Save the date for our annual End of Season Party and Swim Team Awards on Friday, August 14 from 4pm-8pm at Livorna Pool! We will have tables set up to lay out your suits and parkas- as well as cleats, jerseys- any sporting gear that you think someone in the community could wear/use again! We will have labels available to mark suggested donation amounts for the items. All proceeds will go to the Livorna Swim Team; donations can be made via Venmo. There will be announcements for which lanes are available for racing starts. Please follow instructions from meet officials and lifeguards during all warmup periods. There are no assigned lanes for teams during any warmup periods.

Relays:

Teams may enter a maximum of 2 relay teams per event. The qualifying relay time can either be a time achieved by that relay during the 2026 summer rec season, or a sum of the 4 entered swimmers top times in those strokes. The 4 swimmers entered on the relay do not need to be the same 4 swimmers who swim on that relay in the meet. Any eligible swimmer on a team’s roster can swim in a relay in their age group. However, the 4 names of the entered swimmers must be included in the entries. Those swimmers’ names will be listed in the program and on any awards that team receives. It is up to individual teams to correct those awards once they are received. It is not necessary to list any alternates for relays in the entry file.

Team Areas:

Team area information and map will be distributed by Wednesday, July 29th. Please see the note above in the Stroke and Turn section regarding team areas. General team area setup will begin at 3pm on Friday, July 31st. Teams with priority setup will be given further instructions leading up to the meet.

VIP Parking:

VIP parking will be available to purchase beginning at 8pm on Monday, July 27th on the contracostacountymeet.com website, under the VIP Parking tab. Parking typically sells out very fast, so please be prepared.

Meet Programs and Apparel:

Meet programs and apparel will be on sale at Acalanes between 12-3pm on Friday, July 31st. Coaches’ programs can be picked up at the same time. County-wide Times Database:

Lastly, a note from Lisa Hales, our computer coordinator. She has complied a database for the 3 leagues that she runs websites for (VSA, DCSL, and OMPA.) This is something we would love to expand to all teams in the County. Here is a link to the website: https://acornswim.com/Database/index.php?league=gold This is a great tool to see the competition in the rest of the County which makes the summer season more exciting and creates a sense of community.

General Considerations

Please remember we are guests of the Acalanes Union High School District. It is expected that coaches, team representatives, parents, swimmers and spectators maintain order in the team areas and around the pool. Any behavior that is disorderly or unsafe will result in swimmer disqualification and/or immediate eviction from the premises. Please adhere to the following:

  •  Keep sign posting in the neighborhood around Acalanes to a minimum. If you post neighborhood signs, you must take them down promptly after the meet.
  •  Smoking, use of alcohol or tobacco products or other illegal substances is NOT permitted. Individuals will be subject to immediate eviction if found smoking, drinking alcohol, using tobacco and/or illegal substances.
  • Leave the DOG at home. California state law prohibits animals from all aquatic facilities (except for service dogs which must be clearly marked).
  • Barbeques and / or use of live fire is NOT permitted except by DCSL contracted food vendors.
  • Access to blocks, meet operations, competition area and clerk of course will be monitored by Marshalls and Clerk workers. Uncredentialed spectators including parents will NOT enter these areas.
  • Swimmers competing in the meet will access the competition area / pool through the Clerk of Course with the exception of 15 and up swimmers during prelims. These swimmers will access the pool deck during prelims by way of Marshalls.
  • Only swimmers ages 11 and over are allowed to use the warm-up and cool down lanes on the Southside of the pool. No diving is allowed in this area. Lifeguards will monitor and remove any swimmers in violation of these guidelines.
  • The pool will close immediately following the final event of the day. To ensure the safety of all participants and staff, absolutely no one is permitted in the water after the last race has concluded.
Parking
General Parking
  •  The Acalanes parking lot will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Please abide by all neighborhood parking requirements as posted on signs.
  • The Living Hope Fellowship Church parking lot adjacent to the track will NOT be available on Sunday morning.
  • PARKING is NOT allowed on PLEASANT HILL ROAD or DEER HILL ROAD. Be advised, violators will be ticketed.
VIP Paid Parking
  • A limited number of VIP parking spaces will be available for purchase. VIP parking provides all day reserved parking with in and out privileges. VIP Parking is located in the Northwest corner of campus by the tennis courts.
  • A Sign up will be available via the DCSL website at 9am on Monday July 20th. Payments will be required to reserve spot(s).

Disqualification Policy

As found in the League Rules and in accordance with USA Swimming rules and regulations, all swimmers including the 6 & under competitors, are expected to properly perform the strokes in which they compete. All stroke & turn rule infractions approved by the referee will cause disqualification. False start violations will also result in disqualification; see the League Rules for further information. Note that the referee will staff ‘take-off’ judges to watch the relay events to ensure fair competition.

Coaches will be notified of disqualifications via the announcer. Any question regarding a disqualification will be directed to the head referee. Protest of disqualification must occur within 30 minutes of the Announcer’s call for the team coach. Coaches are the ONLY individuals allowed to protest a disqualification OR make an inquiry into time discrepancies. If necessary, the Meet Director will facilitate any debate regarding a question of disqualification. Sierra Timing will serve as the ‘administrative referee’ to resolve timing disputes.

12 & Under Tech Suits

Please familiarize yourself with the USA Swimming rules regarding Tech Suits for swimmers aged 12 and younger. The rules will be enforced at our DCSL Championship Meet, as well as at the Contra Costa County Championship Meet. Refer to USA Swimming for more.

All suits will be inspected for acceptability in the Clerk of Course. It is recommended that 12 and under swimmers bring a backup suit in the event their tech suit violates USA Swimming rules.

Clerk of the Course

All swimmers (with the exception of swimmers in the 15-18 prelim races) are required to check in at the Clerk of the Course located directly behind the pool before their race. Please refer to the General Map for how to access the Clerk of the Course. There will be a girls and a boys Check-in area. The Clerk of the Course area will be shaded to keep the athletes out of direct sunlight.

★Mark your swimmer before Clerk check-in to avoid delays. ★

To reduce congestion at Clerk of Course, all swimmers 10 years of age and under should have their event information (stroke-heat-lane), which can be found in the Meet Program, written on their RIGHT HAND (see example below).

All 6 and Under Freestyle swimmers should be to the Clerk of the Course no later than 8:45 AM – before the singing of the National Anthem on Saturday morning. On Sunday, 6 and Under Backstroke swimmers should be to the Clerk of the Course no later than 8:45am before the singing of the National Anthem. Following each race, swimmers will exit the pool area heading south toward the bathrooms and warm up lanes, opposite from where they entered from the clerk of the course. Please have parents or shepherds meet the younger swimmers at this location after their race.

Practice at Acalanes High School
Acalanes High School 1200 Pleasant Hill Road Lafayette, CA 94549
Start: 9:45 AM
End: 11:00 AM

In lieu of our regular practices this Thursday, July 23rd, we will be having practice at Acalanes High School (the site of our DCSL Championship Meet). This is a great chance for swimmers to get to know the Acalanes pool prior to the meet, as their blocks are different than what we're used to (it is an Olympic sized pool, with deep gutters and slick tiles - we highly recommend taking this chance to get to know the pool!) Acalanes is also the site of the Contra Costa County meet, so a good warm up to the pool for County qualifying swimmers as well!

Make sure to wear your Fear the Fin shirts over your suits, and meet Coach Matt in front of the gym (by the parking lot) at 9:45am for an end of season team picture!
