Coaches
We are thrilled to have Matt Struempf as our Livorna Head Coach! Coach Matt has been our Head Coach since 2021, and he brings over 25 years of experience to the Dolphins. His previous experience includes coaching at Roundhill Country Club, Crow Canyon Country Club, Blackhawk Country Club, and the Sycamore Stingrays. Matt has also coached year round swim teams, learn to swim programs, and US Masters Swim. Along with swimming, he also coached waterpolo for St. Mary's College, and several high school teams. We're so grateful for Matt's leadership and expertise!
Claire Copeland has been our Assistant Coach and the Director of our Junior Dolphins Program since 2023.
From Coach Claire:
I was born and raised in Danville, Ca. I went to the University of Oklahoma and now I attend grad school at Cal State East Bay studying Kinesiology with a focus in Sports Psychology.
I have been a dedicated swimmer for most of my life. I started swimming for Crow Canyon Country Club at the age of 7 until the age of 17. One of my proudest accomplishments is I qualified for county every year. In addition I swam three years at Monte vista high school! I competed in butterfly, breaststroke, and freestyle.
Junior Coaches
Each year Livorna Swim Team is lucky enough to have an awesome group of 15-18 year old swimmers working as our Junior Coaches! These coaches apply and interview for their positions, and are dedicated and enthusiastic. They are awesome mentors for our younger swimmers and part of the core of our team!

The Livorna Dolphins are looking for an additional Assistant Coach to join our Head Coach Matt Struempf and Assistant Coach Claire Copeland for our 2026 Swim Season!
We are seeking well qualified applicants with high energy and enthusiasm, a passion for the sport of swimming, and an ability to connect with swimmers ages 3 to 18 to help further improve their swimming potential. The Assistant Coach will assist the head coach with all aspects of coaching during practices and meets, and participate in social events as part of the Livorna Swim Team community. The ideal candidate will be available for spring and fall clinics and the recreational summer swim season.
